I founded Horizon Counselling and Behaviour Support directly from my lived experience. This journey ignited a commitment to advocating for human rights and fundamentally shifting how support is delivered. My practice is intentionally built upon neuro-affirming and strength-based approaches, moving away from deficit models to fully support individuals and their families to achieve their potential on their own terms.
Support should be different. Not about "fixing" people, but about understanding them. Not about deficits, but about possibilities. Not about compliance, but about connection. That's why Horizon exists - to provide support that honours who you are and celebrates your strengths.
I've spent over 10 years in the disability sector, beginning my journey as a disability support worker and growing into my current roles as a Positive Behaviour Support practitioner, Developmental Educator, and clinical supervisor. Every step of this journey has been driven by a deep commitment to creating meaningful impact for people with disabilities and their families.
Those early days as a support worker taught me what truly matters in this work - it's not policies or procedures, it's genuine connection. It's seeing the whole person, not just their diagnosis or support needs. It's believing in people's capacity to grow, learn, and thrive when given the right support in the right way.
That foundation has shaped everything about how I practice today. Person-centred practice, developed collaboratively with you, your family, and your support network, is paramount. You're the expert on your own life. I'm here to walk alongside you with expertise, empathy, and unwavering commitment to your success.
I believe in the power of genuine connection. My work is about helping individuals build confidence, develop life skills that matter to them, and find their place in the community. Not the place others think they should occupy - the place they choose for themselves.
My approach is built on empathy, understanding, and a relentless pursuit of positive change. I'm persistent in finding what works, consistent in showing up, and committed for as long as it takes. This isn't quick-fix support - it's a genuine partnership focused on meaningful, lasting outcomes.
With 5 years in professional practice and ongoing commitment to learning, I hold qualifications in Counselling and Psychology, and I'm currently pursuing my second Master's degree in Autism and Neurodiversity. But my education doesn't stop with formal degrees - I'm committed to continuous professional development to ensure my practice reflects current best practice and emerging understanding.
